We help churches engage their communities with the gospel.
Creative Missions pairs media professionals with under-resourced churches and creates sustainable solutions that engage their communities with the gospel. Teams donate a week of onsite creative help to 10-15 churches and produce videos, websites, logos, printed items, tech solutions, and much more. We've covered a lot of ground since our first trip in 2011!
New churches and old (distinctly smelling) from multiple evangelical denominations
Alaska, Alberta, Arkansas, Idaho, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New York, Oregon, Vermont (Andy thinks there are 10)
Folks from all over North America and the UK have cheerfully given up a week to serve the local church.
With much prayer and discussion, there was a clear call for Creative Missions to serve churches outside the US this year. We were immediately drawn to Alberta, and specifically the Calgary area.
Calgary is currently Canada's fastest growing city. In fact, for the past decade, it has consistently been one of the top 10 fastest growing cities in all of North America. But there's another side to Stampede City. Only 5.2 percent of its 1.5 million residents claim to believe in Jesus Christ. And with only one evangelical church for every 10k people, there’s a long way to go in reaching Calgary for Christ. However, the best days are ahead.
As the number of new churches and established revitalizations increase around Calgary, there's a newfound spirit of cooperation and unity among churches and denominations to make Jesus known and grow disciples.
Canadians do not see themselves as a "melting pot," but rather a "mosaic," and it shows in their worship and church planting. Pastors from all over the world have been called to God's mission in Calgary. We're serving an Arabic-speaking church as well as Hispanic and Filipino church plants.
We're grateful God ordered our steps to Calgary so that we might play a small part in equipping a generation of churches in and through Alberta.
A few shouts from pastors and Creative Missionaries
I believe in conferences, but I believe in missions, and that's why I would choose #creativemissions any day over a conference.Jon Carlson (Joliet, IL)
Just as our arms are about to give out and we are about to give up, you lift our arms so we can continue the work that God has called us to.Brian Zimmerman (Baltimore, MD)
Churches aren't called to be nostalgic time warps, they are called to be relevant, representative communities.Vajaah Parker (Washington, DC)
I was reminded how important it is to step back and remember why I do what I do - fresh perspective, fresh passion and excitement for how God can use my gifts to further his kingdom.Tim Gaskins (Boulder, CO)
Mission teams come and help, but Creative Missions does it the right way. No other organization has been as effective at helping. What you guys did in two days would take us two years.Michael Crawford (Baltimore, MD)
